About XL Surfing Academy
Welcome to the first Surfing Academy ever to hit the Sunshine Coast. Situated at Alexandra Headland, our Academy offers specialised training and professional coaching to persons wishing to learn or advance their surfing skills.
Lead by one of Australia’s top professional surfers, our team guarantees to spark enthusiasm, while teaching beginners to surf at two of Queensland’s most beautiful beaches.
XL Surfing Academy offers the ambitioned traveler the chance to experience a lifestyle with an edge. The academy educates those wanting to step into a zone of challenge by teaching the skill of surfing while indulging in the Australian culture.
The surfing lessons are separated into summer and winter sessions, concentrating on Alex Headland and Mooloolaba. Upon completion a certificate of competency will be awarded. Progress reports will be recorded each lesson, for every student.

Robbie Sherwell's XL Surfing Academy is owned and run by Robbie Sherwell.
Robbie, his wife, Carlene and their team of experienced instructors provide the ultimate surf experience. All instructors are qualified with ASI, hold surf lifesaving Bronze Medallion, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications.
XL Surfing Academy offers group and private surfing lessons, beginner and intermediate surfing certificate courses, surfing guide trips, surfing camps, team building, surfing awareness for kids, adults, women's only groups, parties, school groups and corporates.
Advanced and elite surf coaching is a speciality of XL Surf Academy. Robbie personally coaches surfers wanting to compete. He has successfully coached surfers including Wade Goodall and Linda Fischer to Australian titles 2004. 2005 coached Kalen Schloss to Queensland Junior title.
